This course includes pediatric first aid and CPR, and is recommended for ages 11 to 15.
All participants must:
- attend and participate in all class sessions and activities
- demonstrate competency in all required skills listed in skill checklist
- pass each section of the written exam with a score of 80 percent or better

Details
You must pass the pre-requisite test to participate in the class, and be at least 15 years old by the last day of the class. In order to be eligible for certification, you must attend each class time.
The pre-requisite test includes:
- 300-yard swim
- 100 yards freestyle; 100 yards breaststroke; 100 yards freestyle or breaststroke
- retrieve object in one minute, 40 seconds:
- swim out 20 yards, dive, and retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of seven to ten feet, then return 20 yards holding a 10-pound object, and swim using only your legs with face above water
- tread water for two minutes using legs only
The lifeguard training course is approximately 30 hours long. There is a $25, non-refundable administration fee for anyone who does not pass the pre-requisite test.
There are no refunds for anyone who does not pass the class.

Details
All participants must attend the F.I.T. class, or have a current certification in F.I.T. You must pass the pre-requisite test to participate in the class, and must attend all class dates. You must be at least 16 years old to take this class.
The prerequisite test includes:
- 25-yard swim
- level four ability for front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke
- 15-yard swim
- level four ability for the butterfly stroke
- tread water for one minute
- float on your back for one minute
This course is approximately 30 hours long. There is a $25, non-refundable administration fee for anyone who does not pass the pre-requisite test. There are no refunds for anyone who does not pass the class.
