Inclusion and Multicultural Services (IMS) is here to provide advising and resources to all students, and to foster multicultural awareness among all members of the university community through our services and activities. Feel free to stop in and see what we can offer you.

Computers, printing, and administrative support

Whether you are a student or a representative from a cultural organization, come by the IMS to use:

  • computers
  • printers
  • telephones
  • fax
  • administrative services

Peer adviser program

Work one-on-one with a peer adviser to:

  • make a smooth transition into college life
  • better understand financial aid
  • learn tips for excelling in class
  • explore career options

Peer advisers are juniors, seniors, and graduate students working under the direction of the IMS.

The IMS can also refer you to the Student Learning Center for tutoring and academic help.

Contact us to set up an appointment with a peer adviser.

Financial aid guidance

Peer advisers, full-time and graduate staff can explain and assist you with financial aid processes and forms, including applying for loans, grants, and scholarships.

Counseling

As a support to Counseling Services, the IMS can provide you with confidential, individual counseling to deal with any situation that may occur.

Contact us to make an appointment.

Clubs and organizations

We sponsor and assist multicultural student clubs and organizations, including fraternities and sororities that promote recreational and educational events.

Awareness

The IMS educates the Northern Arizona University community on issues relevant to the students it serves.

Our staff frequently leads and participates in discussions on diversity awareness and how to recruit and retain multicultural, first-generation, and low-income students. These events are open to all university members—we would love to see you there.

If you are a new multicultural student, join us for our open house in the spring or fall semester. Continuing multicultural students are all welcome at the annual reception that we co-sponsor called One Community, Many Voices.

Recruitment

The IMS helps the Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruit under-represented high school and community college students. We are involved in university recruitment programs such as Discover NAU, campus visits, and group tours.
