Summer and winter sessions financial aid
Summer
The availability of financial aid during the summer sessions
is very limited. Many students have already received their full financial
aid eligibility in the preceding fall and spring semesters. Any
available funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Please
note: You must be enrolled at least half
time to be considered for most summer financial aid.
Apply
Students planning to attend summer classes are required to
complete a summer Financial Aid Application in addition to the FAFSA.
This application should be submitted after you have enrolled in summer
classes. The summer Financial Aid Application will be available on your
LOUIE Student Services page on or around April 9, 2012. To apply, login to LOUIE, go to the Student Center, click on the link called "Summer Financial Aid" in the Finances Section, under "Financial Aid".
The last day to apply for summer aid is Friday,
July 27, 2012.
The processing of summer applications will begin near the
end of April, 2012. Please check
your LOUIE account in early May to
see if you qualify for summer aid.
Disbursement information on summer aid
- If you signed up for direct deposit and meet all
criteria, the first summer disbursement will be just prior to the beginning of
the First Summer Session and will include students attending the Three‐Week
Pre‐Session and the Twelve‐Week Session.
- If you are attending Summer Session II ONLY,
your first disbursement will be just prior to that term only.
- If you are a first‐time loan borrower at NAU,
you must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note.
- You must register in a degree‐seeking program
for the number of credit hours you indicated on the Summer Financial Aid
Application and must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress in order for your
financial aid to disburse.
- If you do not plan to attend, or if you stop
attending your classes, you must officially withdraw from NAU. Contact our office to begin that
process, if needed.
- Be sure to check your Financial Aid To‐Do List
in LOUIE for the most up‐to‐date information.
Other important information
Winter
The winter term is a standalone semester. It does not have specific aid set aside for it and the enrollment for winter does not count towards the spring term. Winter courses are dropped for non-payment as of the 13th of December (the tuition deadline).
As a service to students, we offer a Winter Intent Form to hold the winter charges to be paid by the student with their spring refund. This is the student's responsibility to pay their winter charges with their refund. The Winter Intent Form will not be approved unless the student has enough spring aid to cover spring and winter tuition charges as well as is enrolled in enough credits for spring aid disbursement.
This online form is available on our homepage; it opened on 9/21/12. When submitting the form, students will first be required to sign in with their LOUIE log-in information. The last day to submit a winter application is December 10, 2012.
