SESES’ faculty tackle cutting-edge and societally relevant research problems in the Southwest and across the world. No matter what your degree program or focus area, there are many opportunities available to study the earth sciences and the environment in the field and in the lab. Faculty and students conduct externally funded research in collaboration with other NAU programs, and with top researchers from other universities in the US and internationally. Many research projects involve scientists in state and federal agencies, which often connect students with possible future employment. The School encourages undergraduate students to get involved in funded lab and field-based projects, while MS and PhD graduate students can dive deeper into their area of interest.
