  Northern Arizona Writing Project (NAWP)

  NAWP is an affiliate of the National Writing Project, a network of writing programs committed to the advancement of writing for K-12 teachers and students. The program offers:

  • in-service programs for teachers
  • young author’s camp for Flagstaff fifth to eighth graders
  • summer conferences

  Program in Intensive English (PIE)

  PIE prepares international students for academic success in the university environment by improving their English proficiency and study skills. PIE offers:

  • special courses in English
  • a resource for international students
  • a community for English-language learners

  Corpus Linguistics Research Program (CLRP)

  CLRP focuses on analyses and research methods for systematically studying large data-bases of naturally occurring varieties of language. The program: 

  • serves as a clearinghouse for information and research on corpus linguistics
  • acts as a major resource for research on corpus linguistics
  • provides computer programming training for students focusing on corpus linguistics

  Thin Air literary journal

  Thin Air is edited and operated by the university’s master’s students in English. The journal features original:

  • poetry and fiction
  • creative nonfiction
  • visual art
