Dawn Waterhouse, ’91 BGS
& ’92 MS,
is now a physical therapist at Terrio Physical Therapy and Fitness in
Bakersfield, CA. She brings 20 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient
rehabilitation at HealthSouth. Working with victims of severe physical and
neurological conditions, Dawn is certified in neuro-integrative functional
rehabilitation and habilitation for adults.
Sean Cole, ’93 BS, is a new
member on the planning commission for his home of more than 17 years, Lemon
Grove, CA. Sean’s 10-minute public interview where he explained his vision for
the city, led to a unanimous vote for his appointment by the City Council. Sean is a supervisor with the San Diego
County Probation Department and a single father of two teenage sons.
Gary Hanby, ’94 BSBA, is the new chief deputy recorder for Pinal
County. The Recorder’s Office is responsible for keeping safe and accurate
documentation of deeds, liens and other official documents pertaining to properties
and contracts. Gary previously worked for Coconino County for more than 20
years and in 2008 was honored by the Certified Elections and Voter Registration
Administrator from Auburn University.

Best-selling urban fantasy author
Kevin Hearne, ’94 BSED (photo left)
, is working on the
sixth book of his planned nine-novel
Iron Druid Chronicles series, and was featured in
West Life last month. Kevin has been passionate about writing ever
since his days as an editorial cartoonist and feature writer for the NAU
student newspaper,
The Lumberjack. Kevin
wrote his first five books while simultaneously teaching high school English.
Now, he focuses solely on his writing.
Erik Axlund, ’96 BS (pictured at left), is the new sergeant at the Department of Public Safety office in Payson, AZ. Spending the last 10 years with DPS, Erik previously served for the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, where he operated the jail in Flagstaff and also ran boat patrols on Lake Powell. After 15 years in the Arizona desert, Erik is glad to move back to the pines of Payson.
