Every May, we honor our Lumberjacks on the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Affectionately named, these "Golden Graduates" are a testament to the spirit and strength of our alumni. We invite all graduates from the Class of 1966 to join us for the festivities.

Hotel Accommodations

We have a block of rooms reserved ($239 rate) at the Flagstaff Embassy Suites for May 12, 13 & 14, 2016. Call the hotel directly at 928-774-4333 and use the group name of NAU Class of 1966.  The final booking date is Tuesday, April 12, 2016. If you have made other arrangements, please plan on meeting at the Embassy Suites for bus pick-up to attend all reunion events.

Reunion Itinerary

Friday, May 13, 2016

Hotel & Reunion Check-In: 3:00 - 4:15 p.m.
Call the Embassy Suites at 928-774-4333 and ask for an early check-in  (regular check-in is 4 p.m.) and plan to meet in the lobby to receive your reunion materials and cap and gown. If you are staying at a different location, plan to meet at the hotel at the times indicated below as this will be the departure and return location for the reunion bus transportation.
Campus Bus Tour: 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
The bus departs from the Embassy Suites promptly at 4:15 p.m. for a guided tour of the NAU campus and all of its growth in the last 50 years.
Cline Library Special Collections Tour & Reception 5:15 - 7:30 p.m.
Following the campus tour, the bus will take you to the Cline Library. There we have planned an exclusive reception in the Special Collections and Archives area with food, entertainment and guided tours of the library.  The bus will return you to the hotel following the event.

Saturday, May 14, 2016

Commencement: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Meet in the hotel lobby dressed for Commencement. The bus will leave promptly at 8:45 a.m. to take you to the Skydome where you will be professionally photographed before the 10 a.m. ceremony begins. Golden Graduates will lead the procession and be seated in the front row with the Class of 2016 graduates. Your spouses and guests will be seated in a designated area near you on the Skydome floor. 
Class Photo: 12:15 - 12:30 p.m.
After commencement, the bus will take you to the outside stairs of Old Main. It has been the tradition of the Office of Alumni Relations to capture the Golden Graduates in their regalia for a class photo for future alumni publication. Following the photo you can remove your gowns before boarding the bus to take you to the reunion luncheon at the Cline Library.
Reunion Luncheon: 12:30 - 3 p.m.
Enjoy lunch in the Jean Collins Reading Room of Cline Library followed by a small presentation from Alumni Relations and an opportunity to share memories. The bus will return you to the hotel afterward end the Class of 1966 reunion.
This Itinerary is tentative and subject to change.
  • If you are not planning to stay at your hotel on Saturday night, you must check out of your room at the designated time on Saturday morning.  You will need to store your belonings with the concierge or in your vehicle. The bus will retrun to the Embassy Suites following the luncheon.
  • The bus will be transportation to and from the reunion activities. You can safely leave your belongings on the locked bus during activities. 
  • Dress code: Flagstaff/business comfort, casual slacks, shirt, sweater, sport-coat, tie, comfortable shoes, classy & sassy. 

ASC/NAU Oral History Project

Dr. Gary Emanuel, Associate Professor in Educational Leadership has established an Oral History Project.  This oral history project is focused on collecting oral histories from graduates and faculty of Arizona State College/Northern Arizona University. The target audience includes graduates and faculty of the College of Education from 1960-1969. As the project has grown, the oral histories of the graduates and faculty have come from all faculty and graduates during the years 1934-1979. As of May 27, 2010, 73 interviews were completed with 53 housed on the web site, ascnauoralhistoryproject.pbworks.com
