Transcripts
- Transcripts are not required for admission if you accurately self-report your high school courses and grades.
- If you choose not to self-report your courses and grades, ask each high school you have attended to send your official transcripts to:

you are concurrently or dually enrolled in high school and college you must
submit your official college transcripts. Northern Arizona University cannot award college credit
based on high school transcripts.

Accept Your Offer of Admission and Pay Your Enrollment Deposit
- You
will be asked to pay your enrollment deposit of $325. This deposit holds your
place in the incoming class and allows you to apply for housing. Go to nau.edu/acceptmyoffer. Please note that at midnight July 15th the enrollment deposit will close. We will no longer accept enrollment deposits for fall 2013 after that time.
- Students
eligible for Military and Veteran Affairs benefits must also pay enrollment deposit; this is not covered
by GI benefits.
- The
enrollment deposit is non-refundable after May 1 for the fall semester and
December 1 for the spring semester.
- Deposits will not be accepted after the final deposit deadlines of July 15 for the fall and December 15 for the spring semester.

2. Steps to Enrollment (after accepting your offer)Flagstaff/Main Campus Freshmen
Apply for Housing
Campus housing options are full for fall 2013. Our Off-Campus Housing Resources page provides information and links to over 50 apartment complexes, and other resources for off campus housing.
For those wishing to apply for housing for future terms:
Register for Orientation
- The university expects new freshmen students to attend
an orientation session.
- Students will stay on campus one
night in a residence hall for orientation. Be sure to bring sheets and blankets
or a sleeping bag, toiletries, and a towel.
- If parent(s), guardian(s) or
siblings wish to attend orientation, they will need to register for the same
orientation session as the student. Parents, guardians and siblings will also
need to arrange off campus lodging. Visit nau.edu/discounts for a list of local B&Bs, hotels, and motels offering
discounts for NAU related events.
Take the ALEKS Math Placement Test
- ALEKS is an online math placement
test. There is no cost for the first test. Students may take the test up to
three times for a fee, and it must be proctored. The fee for
additional testing is paid directly to ALEKS/McGraw Hill via credit card.
- The ALEKS test is required for all
students who have not earned credit for a college-level math or statistics
course or CLEP, AP, or IB, or took a college/university level math or
statistics course and earned a “C” or better.
- For all other
placement tests, go to nau.edu/testing.
Complete Priority Enrollment
- Once your enrollment deposit is paid, you
have access to early class selection for your first semester.
- Priority Enrollment opens in
mid-February
- Complete your academic profile. Once
completed and submitted an academic adviser will place you in the best classes,
given your interests and overall profile.
- At Orientation you will meet with your academic adviser to review and finalize your class schedule.
- MVA benefit eligible students must
certify their classes once enrolled with the VA to be eligible for benefits.
Verify Your Citizenship
- The
state of Arizona requires documentation that each student receiving benefits
from state—including in-state tuition and WUE scholarship students—is a legal citizen. If you have filed a
FAFSA, you usually will not have to provide additional documentation.
- If
documentation is requested and not provided, tuition will be charged at the
out-of-state rate and financial aid may be impacted.

submission.

Transfer Students

Complete Online Orientation
- It
is a university expectation that new transfer students complete the online orientation modules.
- After you complete the online orientation you will be invited to contact an academic adviser in your major to enroll in classes.

a final official copy of transcripts for high schools, colleges and/or
universities you were enrolled in prior to your application to NAU. Be sure
that final grades are posted and graduation dates are indicated if applicable.

Enrollment
- You
may register for up to 6 credit hours per semester/term
- NAU
may not accept more than 15 credit hours earned while enrolled as a non-degree
seeking student
- Course
selection may be limited based on pre-requisite requirements.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
- Non-degree
students are not eligible for aid, grants, loans or scholarships.
Extended Campuses
Please check with your site representative or Extended Campuses for the next steps to enroll online, at the Yuma Branch Campus, or at any of our sites across the state.
3. Steps to Scholarships and Financial Aid
Even if you do not believe you will qualify for Federal Financial Aid, many university and private scholarships require you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
If you have not applied to the university and you are an undergraduate student, contact
Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation; if you are a graduate student, contact the
Graduate College.
- Obtain a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at pin.ed.gov
- After January 1, complete a FAFSA at fafsa.gov and list NAU [code 001082] as a recipient of the information. NAU’s priority deadline for institutional grant funding, Federal work-study, the Federal Perkins loan, and the Federal Supplement Educational opportunity Grant is February 14.
- Complete both the Scholarship Application and the STARS scholarship application at nau.edu/finaid. These applications are available during the winter break and have deadlines between January-March 1.
- Monitor your LOUIE
To-Do list for any additional required documentation.
- If you will be using
money from a loan to pay tuition and/or fees, complete Loan Finance Counseling
at StudentLoans.gov. Your aid will not
be distributed without this.
- If you will be using
money from a loan to pay tuition and/or fees, you must use your PIN to sign
your Electronic Master Promissory Note (EMPN) at StudentLoans.gov. Your aid will not be distributed without this.
- Complete your
Certification Statement located in your LOUIE To-Do list. Your aid will not
be distributed without this.
- Sign up for direct
deposit of any potential financial aid refunds by logging into your LOUIE
Student Center, click on Finances, and then click on Direct Deposit.
- Monitor LOUIE to
review any type of aid you have been awarded, and to see if your award(s) will
fully or partially pay your tuition and fees.
- If necessary, pay
balances not covered by your financial aid by the due dates listed on your
bill. Go to Student and Department Account Services at nau.edu/sdas for tuition due
dates and payment methods.
- Keep your 'Refund' and 'Preferred' addresses updated in LOUIE. Be sure to check your NAU e-mail account regularly as time-sensitive information about your Financial Aid will only be sent here.
4. Steps to Military and Veteran Benefits
To determine your eligibility for Veteran Benefits, follow the following steps:
- Apply for benefits or transfer of schools through VONAPP.
- Fill out 22-1990 for first time education benefit user.
- Fill out 22-1995 for transferring of schools.
- Send a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to NAU Office of Military and Veteran Affairs (OMVA) – if you filled out the
22-1990, the COE may take up to 7 weeks to receive.
- Military Tuition Assistance benefits vary by service, please call 928-523-8387 for more information.
5. Orientation Steps
