Asked Questions - Graduate Students |
| |
|
Q:
What kinds of financial aid are offered to graduate students? |
|
A: Within the constraints of available funding,
every effort is made to provide financial assistance to students.
A number of teaching and research assistantships and fee waivers
are available from the department on a competitive basis. Depending
on the number of students that are accepted, the department tries
to give each incoming graduate student a minimum of a 10 hour teaching
assistantship, which includes an out-of-state tuition waiver.
In-state tuition waivers may also be available through the NAU Graduate
College. Part-time employment and research assistantships
may be available outside the department on a competitive basis.

| Q:
What kind of facilities are available for research? |
| A:
The Department of Psychology is housed in the College of Social
and Behavioral Sciences on NAU's south campus. An important component
of our graduate program is our Health Psychology Center (HPC). The
HPC is designed for supervised practicum training, human research,
and teaching, and contains rooms for direct observation or videotaping
of individual or group behavior. The HPC also houses experimental,
physiological, diet and exercise research labs. Other research labs
are nearby. Individual faculty also have labs dedicated to
their research efforts, and these labs are located either in SBS
or neighboring buildings. There is also dedicated space within
SBS for graduate students for conducting office hours, classwork
and research.
