Professional Interests

Dr. Dickson's current research interests focus on pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching). In collaboration with colleagues, Dr Dickson designs, implements, and publishes research studies examining the effect of student learning aids and crib cards on exam performance and student learning.

Undergadaute/Graduate Courses

Dr Dickson teaches Psy 240 - Developmental Psychology, Psy 340- Child and Adolescent Development, Psy 633 - Graduate Developmental Psychology, and Psy 665 - Graduate Teaching Practicum.

Consistent with NAU's missions to provide educational access to students and promote opportunities for diverse student populations, Dr. Dickson teaches online and in-person courses year-round, including Summer and Winter Sessions.

Dr Dickson's involvement with teaching extends beyond the classroom, as she chairs Masters committees, serves on Masters committees, directs independent studies, supervises research experiences, and mentors countless students.

Dr Dickson was honored to receive the Outstanding Teacher of the Year award in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences in 2000.
