Health Professions School Interviews
If you are fortunate enough to be granted an interview, we suggest you make an appointment with Career Services to schedule a mock interview. You will be videotaped and the career counselor will help you evaluate your performance.
Sample Interview Questions for Professional School Applicants
- When did you decide on medicine/dentistry/podiatry (etc)?
- What motivated you to choose this career?
- What qualities make a good physician/dentist (etc)?
- What qualities do you have that will make you a good physician (etc.)?
- What subject did you find the most difficult as an undergraduate? Easiest?
- What has been the most useful aspect of your premedical training?
- What has been the most stressful part of your premed (etc.) experience?
- How do you deal with stressful situations?
- With what type of people do you have the most trouble working?
- What is your greatest strength?
- What is your greatest weakness?
- What do you see as the most serious health problem facing us today? Why?
- What problems do you see in the American health care delivery system? What recommendations would you make for improvements?
- Other than medicine (etc.), what is/are your main interest(s)?
- Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
- What do you plan to do if you are not accepted to medical (etc.) school?
- Minority applicants: What importance, if any, does your identity as a minority applicant have in your decision to become a physician (etc.)
