High School Preparation
High school students planning a career in the biomedical professions should take as many courses as possible in math, biology, chemistry, and physics. English or writing classes are particularly important, as the ability to write well significantly improves student's overall performance at the university and prepares him/her for a professional career.
In addition, volunteering or working at a clinic, hospital, dental office, or other health care facility after school, on weekends, or during the summer is an excellent way for a high school student to decide if s/he has the interest, commitment and stamina required for a biomedical profession.
