Cumulative GPA

Overall trends are important, and a poor freshman year can be compensated for by subsequent years of superior work. Many professional schools evaluate your cumulative GPA, your science GPA, and your "all other" GPA.

"All other" includes your non-science classes. Do not take a heavy course load your first semester of college; make sure you can earn above a 3.5 before attempting a more difficult schedule.
