the STAR program. How do I apply?

to NAU, you can complete the STAR Interest Form online. As part of the
process, you must also complete a STAR Financial Information
Worksheet.
When will I know if I've been selected for the STAR program?
Review of applications for the program will begin in February 2007. If you have
completed the application process by February, expect to hear from us by
late-February. Otherwise, we will be reviewing application files on an
on-going basis. We plan on having the entire class selected by
mid-April. Remember, you must pay the $150.00 enrollment deposit to
accept your admission to NAU before we can select you for the program

Yes, all STAR students are required to live on-campus during the program. Living in the residence hall provides students with
a well-rounded summer
experience.
Do I have to stay on-campus during the weekends?
Students are required to stay on-campus the first weekend of the
program only. During the first weekend, we will be participating
in a challenge course activity. On subsequent weekends, students
are allowed to leave campus, but many students find they need to stay in
order to study, write papers, do research, etc. The residence hall
staff will be planning weekend activities for students to participate
in; on weekends.
Can I request a specific roommate for the program?
No. A large part of the STAR experience is meeting new people and expanding your
perspectives. When assigning roommates, we will purposely avoid putting
students from the same high school or town together. This makes for a
very rich learning experience.
Can I work during the STAR program?
No. The STAR program is a fun, engaging and rigorous program. STAR students
should expect to be busy with classes, supplemental labs, coursework and
activities well into the evening on a daily basis.
Can I bring my vehicle?
Yes. You will need to get a parking permit for you vehicle and due to
construction on-campus, parking can be difficult at times.
Should I bring a bike?
That is up to you. Your classes, the residence hall, the dining hall and the
Multicultural Student Center are all centrally-located. You will not
need a bike to get around campus during the program. During the fall
semester, a bike would be convenient.
Should I bring my computer?
You are welcome to bring your own computer. You will have access to the
internet in your room, so it would be convenient. However, there are
computer labs available in the residence hall, Multicultural Student
Center and the Learning Assistance Centers. A computer is not required.
